Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga named 2014 Box Office King & Queen

     Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga are named the 2014 Box Office King and Queen after the deliberation of winners for the 46th Box Office Entertainment Awards of the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

The two were judged as Box Office King and Queen for their Star Cinema movie "Starting Over Again," which earned P410.89 million.

Meanwhile, Vice Ganda will receive the Phenomenal Award for his movie "The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin," which earned P456.20 million.

ABS-CBN is Thomasians' Network of Choice at 11th USTV Awards

   ABS-CBN was named the network of choice chosen by more than 40,000 students of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) as the Kapamilya Network bagged the Student Leaders’ Choice of TV Network, alongside 21 other recognitions, at the recently concluded 11th USTv Students’ Choice Awards held in UST, Manila.

Awards of Excellence were also handed out to programs that have already won more than five times since UST started eleven years back.

ABS-CBN NAMED BEST TV STATION IN 23RD KBP GOLDEN DOVE AWARDS

  ABS-CBN won the Best TV Station in the 23rd KBP Golden Dove Awards bringing its total number of Best TV Station awards to 12 in the first quarter of 2015. It won a total of 29 trophies, 15 from the TV category and 14 from the radio category.

The other ABS-CBN winners are: Jericho Rosales, bagging the Best TV Actor for Drama, and Bea Alonzo, winning the Best TV Actress for Drama, leading the haul. News and Public affairs personalities such as Julius Babao (Best Radio Newscaster), Ted Failon (Best Public Affairs Host), and Atom Araullo (Best TV Public Affairs Host) were also honored as well as DZMM’s Edwin Sevidal (Best Field Reporter), Jun Banaag (Best Music Radio Jock) and Ariel Ureta (Best Magazine Program Host for Radio).

Boy Abunda’s “The Bottomline” bagged the Best Public Affairs Program for TV to lead other program awardees such as Failon Ngayon (Best Public Service Program), Two Wives (Best Drama Program), The Voice Kids (Best Variety Program), Home Sweetie Home (Best Comedy Program), Matanglawin (Best Science and Technology Program and Best Children’s Program), “My Puhunan” (Best Magazine Program), and Sports Unlimited (Best Sports Program).

DZMM, recognized as the Best AM Radio Station, and rode on the successes of their various programs such as “Dos Por Dos” (Best Radio Public Affairs Program), “Radyo Patrol Alas Dose” (Best Radio News Program), “DYAB Radyo Patrol Balita sa Alas Dose” (Best Newscast for Provincial), “Aksyon Ngayon” (Best Public Service Program), “Sakto” (Best Variety Program), “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (Best Drama Program), and “Kapamilya Konek” (Best Magazine Program).

ABS-CBN also won the awards in the Best Public Service Announcement categories for both Television and Radio thanks to “Bayani” (Best TV PSA) and “DZMM EDSA” (Best Radio PSA). The “Thank You Ang Babait Ninyo” station ID was deemed as the Best TV Station Promotional Material.

Luchi Cruz-Valdes is Ka Doroy Broadcaster of the Year at the 23rd Golden Dove awards

 TV5's news and information head, Luchi Cruz-Valdes, bagged the prestigious Ka Doroy Broadcaster of the Year Award at the 23rd Golden Dove Awards of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP).  A recipient of major local and international awards in her illustrious career as a broadcast journalist, Cruz-Valdes also took home the Best Newscaster award for TV5’s primetime newscast “Aksyon”.

On top of Cruz Valdes’ win as Ka Doroy Broadcaster of the Year (her second time to be conferred the honor, having also received it in the KBP Golden Dove Awards of 2001), TV5 also won these awards:

TV5 Bags Excellence Awards at the 13th Philippine Quill Awards

   TV5 bested thousands of entries from the nation’s biggest corporations and took home Awards of Excellence at the 13th Philippine Quill Awards, the country’s most prestigious awards in business communication.

The network’s Radyo5 Taxi Squad: Todo Radyo Serbisyo and Rescue5 Activity Book for Visayas bagged Excellence awards in the Communication Management division and Communication Skills division, respectively. Both campaigns are under News5, highlighting the network’s public service excellence and commitment to cause journalism.

Present to receive the awards were (L-R) Rescue5’s Chester Batongbakal, News5 anchor Paolo Bediones, TV5 Public Service Head Sherryl Yao, and TV5 legal analyst and Radyo5 anchor Atty. Mel Sta. Maria, at the awarding ceremonies held on March 9 at Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila.

Aside from winning the Excellence Awards, both Radyo5 and Rescue5 further made it to the five finalists that competed for the Top Award in the Communication Management and Communication Skills divisions, respectively.

Radyo5 Taxi Squad: Todo Radyo Serbisyo empowers cab drivers by forming a sustainable community of taxi drivers who serve as citizen journalists and role-model to others. Rescue5, on the other hand, pioneered a fun and innovative way of teaching disaster preparedness to kids in calamity-stricken Visayas through activity books in their mother tongues such as Waray and Sinugbuanong Binisaya.

These award-winning campaigns strengthen News5’s own brand of journalism, “Higit sa Balita, Aksyon,” which does not stop in just reporting news but goes the extra mile by taking action for positive change and inspiring the general public to do the same.

The Philippine Quill Awards is organized by the Philippine chapter of International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), a global network of around 15,500 business communicators in 80 countries.

ABS-CBN, MOST AWARDED TV NETWORK IN PHILIPPINE QUILL AWARDS 2014

  
ABS-CBN Corporation bagged a total of 20 recognitions at the 13th Philippine Quill Awards where it won the most number of awards among TV networks. The Kapamilya network was declared Company of the Year 2nd runner-up in the annual awards program that recognizes the best communication programs and works in the country. Other nominees for the said category are Manila Electric Company (MERALCO), Shell Companies in the Philippines, Smart Communications, Inc., and Unilever Philippines, Inc.

The “Tulong Na, Tabang Na, Tayo Na” campaign, which was conducted to bring relief and rehabilitation for the victims of typhoon Pablo, Bohol quake, and typhoon Yolanda, was feted in three categories, namely Advocacy Communication, Marketing Communication and Multi-Audience Communication. The campaign included initiatives such as selling of Tulong shirts and star-studded Tulong fund-raising concerts with the country’s leading artists performing pro bono and raising funds from the public to help the victims.

ABS-CBN’s mobile telephony service, ABS-CBNmobile was awarded in the Advocacy Communication category for its “Yolanda Story: Becoming a relief SIM all in the service of the Filipinos” campaign that gave away 100,000 SIM cards for free to the Yolanda survivors to help them connect and communicate with their loved ones.

SKY Cable Corporation was also recognized for its effort to serve, enrich and uplift the spirit of the Yolanda survivors by providing them with free TV viewing stations in Tacloban and Villamor Air Base. SKY received an award in the Special Events – External category.

Mga Kwento ng Kasiyahan: The ABS-CBN Grand Kapamilya Weekend” won in the Special Events – External category for its historic, star-studded two-day event in 2013 that provided thousands of Kapamilya fans public service, fun activities, and the opportunity to meet and greet the network’s biggest stars in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Philippine television.

60 Years: Kwento Natin Ito,” the event that preceded the Grand Kapamilya Weekend, bagged recognition in the Employee Engagement category. It was the kickoff of the year-long celebration of the 60th anniversary of Philippine TV that featured ABS-CBN employees who shared their experiences, insights, and significant contribution as Kapamilya.

The hit Facebook app that expanded the “PBB” experience for fans—“Pinoy Big Brother Online Bahay ni Kuya,” a first of its kind in the history of the international Big Brother franchise, bagged awards in Advertising Campaigns, Marketing Communication, and Digital Communication Channel categories.

DZMM’s “RED Alert 2014” campaign won in the Multi-Audience Communication category for empowering its listeners and viewers by teaching them educational and experiential survival and emergency response and disaster preparedness tips.

ABS-CBN’s commuter safety mobile app, “PasaHero” earned a distinction in the Corporate Social Responsibility category for protecting the passengers by broadcasting trip details via social media and sending emergency notifications and location to the user’s trusted circle.

ABS-CBNmobile won in the Social Media Programs category for its Facebook page that became the most influential telco brand in the country based on engagement and reach through effective real-time digital marketing and social media content.

The “Pamilya OnGuard” campaign was awarded in the Advertising Campaigns category being the first and only health news advisory on ABS-CBN that brings holistic and essential information on health and protection.

Kapamilya Network’s 2013 Christmas Station ID themed, “Magkasama Tayo sa Kwento ng Pasko (Pagbangon version)” received a Quill Award in the Audio/Visual category.

ABS-CBN also stood out in the Digital Communications Channel category as its internal online contest for employees dubbed as “Heartthrobs on 30” received an award for successfully putting the spotlight on ABS-CBN employees considered as heartthrobs but aged 30 and above and engaged the whole ABS-CBN workforce via an online voting competition.

The ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra’s “Spotlight Series: The Music of Ryan Cayabyab” was cited in the Special Events – External category for its achievement in planning and execution of a special event for an external audience.

ABS-CBN Global Ltd. subsidiary E-Moneyplus, Inc.’s remittance brand myREMIT took home its first Philippine Quill Award in Marketing Communication for its campaign, “Pamilya Ko, Buhay Ko” that exemplified the excellent use of communication in terms of the management of its communication tools from marketing peripherals, broadcast content to public relations.

Lastly, ABS-CBN’s 2013 Annual Report took home a Quill award in the Publication category for effectively providing its intended audience with comprehensive, accurate, and timely reporting of the financial and operating performance for the year in line with the general principles of fairness, accountability, and, transparency.

The prestigious annual Philippine Quill Awards is presented by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines to honor excellent communications programs and tools that exhibit clear objectives and strategies, creative executions and measurable benefits.

ABS-CBN named Best TV Station at 1st MAPUA Gawad Kamalayan Awards

   ABS-CBN Corporation was hailed as the Best TV Station at the first Gawad Kamalayan Awards of MapĆŗa Institute of Technology held on Thursday (January 29) at the MapĆŗa campus in Intramuros, Manila.

TV Patrol” won as the Best News Program, “Rated K” as Best Magazine Show, “Umagang Kay Ganda” as Best Feature and Lifestyle Show, “ASAP” as Best Variety Program, “Maalaala Mo Kaya” as Best Drama Program, and ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation as Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Project.

Meanwhile, Kapamilya news anchors and hosts were also honored by MapĆŗans namely, Ted Failon as the Best News Program Anchor, Korina Sanchez as Best Magazine Show Host, Anthony Taberna as Best Feature and Lifestyle Show Host, and Robi Domingo as Best Tourism Host for “Sunday’s Best: Lakwatsero Hokkaido.

”The Gawad Kamalayan Awards is the first TV awards program launched by MapĆŗa’s School of Languages, Humanities, and Social Sciences during the university’s 90th Founding Anniversary celebration. It was named after the Filipino word, “kamalayan,” which means awareness. It aims to recognize the TV programs and personalities who promote consciousness among the Filipino TV viewers. The winners were voted by over 13,000 students, faculty members, and staff of MapĆŗa.

MYX TV WINS AT THE 6TH ANNUAL TASTE AWARDS IN HOLLYWOOD

   The 6th Annual Taste Awards, the highest awards for the Lifestyle Entertainment Industry, was held last January 15 at the Egyptian Theater, and Myx TV’s first food reality show, “Eat Your Words”, won an award as the “Guilty Addiction of the Year”, together with “Got Milk Future Olympian” and “Amazing Wedding Cakes”.

Receiving the award for Myx TV are General Manager Miguel Santos, Host Kara Birkenstock, and Executive Producers Valerie Chow and Stephen Goetsch (shown in photos above).  Birkenstock was also included among celebrity presenters for the Viewers Choice Award Category.

The Annual TASTE AWARDS (also known as the TASTY Awards) in Hollywood celebrate the year’s best in Food, Fashion, and Lifestyle programs on Television, in Film, Online, and on Radio.
The TASTE AWARDS show features a star-studded lineup of food and fashion TV celebrities, and has included appearances by stars, celebrities, producers and executives from networks and platforms such as the Food Network, the Style Network, Bravo, the Cooking Channel, TLC, Discovery, Lifetime, E! ABS-CBN’S “BE CAREFUL WITH MY HEART” WINS BEST FOREIGN DRAMA SERIES IN VIETNAM

   Philippine TV’s longest-running daytime drama series “Be Careful With My Heart,” which ended last November, was awarded Best Foreign Drama Series at the Face of the Year Award 2014 of Today TV, one of the largest Vietnamese television networks that airs Filipino dramas. The winners were determined through public votes and results were announced on December 22, 2014.

ABS-CBN’s romantic comedy series, known in Vietnam as TrĆ”i Tim BĆ© Bį»ng, is a certified phenomenon that its lead stars Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap, popularly known among viewers as sweethearts Maya and Ser Chief, earned the most number of votes from Vietnamese viewers among other international nominees. Jodi was hailed the Best Foreign Actress, while Richard was named Best Foreign Actor. Both Jodi and Richard graced the event to receive their awards.

Prior to its recognition in Vietnam, “Be Careful With My Heart” became a finalist in the Telenovelas category at the 2013 New York Festivals International Television and Film Awards.

The Filipino Channel (TFC) wins 4th consecutive MAM Awards

   An affirmation of its mission to be “In the Service of the Filipinos Worldwide” ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel (TFC) recently earned its fourth consecutive set of awards for championing the cause of the overseas Filipinos (OFs), at the 2014 Migration Advocacy and Media Awards.

ABS-CBN TFC’s “JuanEUKonek,” hosted by Danny Buenafe, Rose Eclarinal and Gene Alcantara won Best TV Show for its vivid portrayal of the rich and diverse lives of Filipinos in the continent. It tackles the triumphs and travails of Filipinos as they cope with life far from their motherland Philippines and as they embrace the cross-cultural values of their second home that is Europe.

Edgardo Garcia, Managing Director for ABS-CBN Middle East and Europe says that the award comes at a perfect time when TFC speaks of the “Galing ng Filipino” as part of its anniversary year.  Garcia says: “I am proud of the fact that the TFC team in the Middle East and Europe do not only herald the ‘Greatness of the Filipino’ but also exemplify this by way of the excellent programs they create especially to address the needs of our kababayans in the region.”

For Middle East and Europe Bureau Chief Danny Buenafe, “this recognition will further motivate us to do what is right for OFs, especially in Europe. With meager resources and cultural diversities, we aim to go beyond the news, telling the story of our kababayans and sharing distinct Filipino values worthy of emulation.  My special thanks to Rose Eclarinal, our Program Producer, whose vision and persistence for a magazine talk show for Global Filipinos, paid off.”

Meantime, TFC’s graduation plug “Full of Gratitude” (written and produced by Promo Producer Kristine Hurtado-Montalvo) which shows Filipino students narrating their “thank you’s” for their loved ones who made sacrifices to ensure their future, won Best in Advertisement.

Edgar Legaspi, Global Content Head proudly says this is TFC’s fourth consecutive award since 2011 and only proves that the team has been on the right track in terms of content development.  “This award only affirms that we are doing something right as far as reflecting the sentiments of and tailor-fitting programs and promotional materials for OFs, is concerned.  We are humbled and at the same time challenged to always do our best with our kababayans in mind.”

ABS-CBN also won the Best TV Show award for “My Puhunan,” hosted by multi-awarded broadcast journalist Karen Davila, for its inspiring episode on OFs living in Dubai who made it big in business.

The Commission on Filipinos Overseas with the support of the Inter-Agency Committee (IAC) on the celebration of the Month of Overseas Filipinos chaired by the Philippine Migrants Rights Watch (PMRW) formed the MAM Awards as part of the celebration of the Month of Overseas Filipinos and the International Migrant’s Day.  According to CFO Secretary Imelda Nicolas “we aim to recognize the significant role of the media in raising public awareness on issues related to Filipino migration, the challenges of migration and development, and advocate the cause and promote a positive image of Filipinos overseas through the MAM Awards.”

In 2011, TFC’s Citizen Pinoy” won Best in Television Journalism Award (Regular TV Program category).  The following year, TFC’s “A Mother’s Story” won for Best Film, “TNT” for Best Documentary; on-air plug “Bida Ang Pasko On Duty” for Best Advertisement and ABS-CBN’s “Krusada” for its “Lipad ng Pangarap” episode.  In 2013, TFC’s on-air plug “Isang Katuparan ng Pangarap” won for Best in Advertisement while abs-cbnnews.com won for Best Interactive website.

The panel of judges is composed of various migration and media institutions, which include the IAC of PMRW and CFO, members of the academe, the OF sector and media.

ABS-CBN IS THE MOST AWARDED AT COMGUILD ACADEME’S CHOICE AWARDS 2014

    ABS-CBN emerged as the most awarded TV network at the recently held COMGUILD Academe’s Choice Awards after it earned nine out of the ten accolades given out during the event, including the Advertiser’s Friendly Television Network.

“FAILON NGAYON” WINS AT INT’L MEDIA AWARDS IN LONDON

ABS-CBN current affairs program “Failon Ngayon” recently bagged an honor at the International Media Excellence Awards given by the Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) in the United Kingdom.

“Failon Ngayon” won the Best Domestic Current Affairs Documentary for Television for its coverage of super typhoon Yolanda in 2013. It bested other TV networks from Spain, United States, South Africa, and United Kingdom.

“It was a story that was put together in the most challenging circumstances. The whole team brought home the scale and the human tragedy that it really was. It was a worthy winner,” said AIB chief executive Simon Spanswick in an interview of “TV Patrol.”

“Failon Ngayon” anchor and seasoned broadcast journalist Ted Failon, on the other hand, was nominated for the International Television Personality Award along with other outstanding broadcasters from around the globe.

Now on its tenth year, the AIB annually searches the globe for the top achievements in factual content for TV, radio, and online. Nominees were evaluated by an international panel of 50 judges from the broadcast industry.

ABS-CBNnews.com BAGS HONOR AT ASIAN ENVIRONMENTAL JOURNALISM AWARDS IN SINGAPORE

ABS-CBNnews.com, the news digital arm of ABS-CBN, recently won the Coca-Cola Environmental Story of the Year at the Asian Environmental Journalism Awards (AEJA) for its multimedia report titled “A Tale of Three Disasters.”

“A Tale of Three Disasters” showed the impact of major tropical storms Sendong, Pablo, and Yolanda that ravaged different parts of the Philippines.

ABS-CBNnews.com deputy editor for multimedia Fernando “Jun” Sepe Jr. personally accepted the award at a ceremony held at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in Singapore.

Organized by the Singapore Environment Council, the AEJA is held annually to recognize and reward excellence in environmental journalism at all levels of society in Asia.

ABS-CBN DIGITAL CHIEF OFFICER IS FIRST RECIPIENT OF AGORA AWARD FOR MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS

   ABS-CBN chief digital officer Donald Patrick Lim was named the first awardee of the Agora Award for Outstanding Achievement in Marketing Communications, given by the Philippine Marketing Association (PMA).

Lim, one of the country’s founding fathers of digital marketing, was cited for revolutionizing digital advertising in the country.

In his acceptance speech at the 35th Agora Awards, Lim paid tribute to his mentors who shaped him into an effective marketing practitioner.

Aside from thanking his parents and former bosses, he cited ABS-CBN president and CEO Charo Santos-Concio, who, he said, taught him that the greatest marketers are the greatest storytellers.

“In ABS-CBN, Charo taught me that everything starts and ends with a story. And no matter how great you are at storytelling, at the very end, you have to put the Filipinos at heart. Everything I create in the digital space, anything I do in ABS-CBN will always be in the service of the Filipino,” said Lim.

Lim joined ABS-CBN in June 2013. He graduated with a degree in marketing from the Ateneo de Manila University, got an MBA with distinction from Murdoch University, and finished his Doctor in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Lim is also the founding president of the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines. His journey in the digital world started in 2005 as the CEO of Yehey! Corporation. He was the managing director of McCann’s digital arm MRM Manila before joining ABS-CBN.

ABS-CBN BAGS PEOPLE’S CHOICE STEVIE AWARD FOR MEDIA & ENTERTAINMENT

ABS-CBN Corporation was named the winner of the People’s Choice Stevie Award for Favorite Company in the Media & Entertainment category after earning the Gold Stevie Award in the same category at the prestigious International Business Awards.

The only Philippine media company to be recognized by the awards competition, ABS-CBN received the highest number of online votes and beat the other Stevie winners in the said category.

ABS-CBN, which won the Gold Stevie award for its business achievements in the past year, received both the Gold Stevie and People’s Choice Stevie Awards at a banquet in Paris, France recently.

More than 23,000 votes were cast in this year’s People’s Choice Stevie Awards for Favorite Companies, a feature of The International Business Awards, the world’s premier business awards competition. All organizations honored in the IBA’s Company of the Year categories were included in People’s Choice Stevie Awards for Favorite Companies voting, in which the general public voted for their favorite companies.

Last May, ABS-CBN bagged a Grand Stevie Award at the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards and was the only Filipino company to receive the highest honor given to five companies in the region.  It also won a Gold Stevie Award in the Services Company of the Year category, while ABS-CBN president and CEO Charo Santos-Concio won a Gold Stevie in the Woman of the Year for all Asia-Pacific nations (except Australia and South Korea) category.

ABS-CBN WINS FOUR BOOMERANG AWARDS 2014

    ABS-CBN Corporation bagged four metals at the recently held 2014 Boomerang Awards, including a Gold Boomerang for its passenger safety mobile app, making it the only TV network to be recognized by the award-giving body.

Organized annually by the Internet Mobile and Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP), the Boomerang Awards aims to recognize the best digital programs and campaigns in the country.

ABS-CBN’s passenger safety app “PasaHero” won the Gold Boomerang in the Programs Category. The app, which safeguards the user (passenger) by broadcasting trip details to social media and sending emergency notifications and location to the user’s trusted circle, also took home a Black Boomerang or a special award from Smart Communications for Best in Mobile.

ABS-CBN’s “Pinoy Big Brother All In Online Bahay ni Kuya,” meanwhile, won a Silver Boomerang in the Effectivity category and a Bronze Boomerang in the Campaigns category.

The PBB Facebook app, a first of its kind in the history of the international Big Brother franchise, successfully expanded the “PBB” experience for fans, who weren’t able to make it to the auditions by making them online housemates. They could interact with Big Brother, as well as with their fellow online housemates, via online tasks and challenges. The top ten online housemates were also given the chance to watch the “PBB All In Big Night” live at the Araneta Coliseum, while the grand winner won a cash prize of P100,000.

This is the first time ABS-CBN joined the prestigious Boomerang Awards by the IMMAP.

ABS-CBN BROADCAST HEAD CORY VIDANES WINS CEO EXCEL AWARD

     ABS-CBN broadcast head Cory Vidanes received a Communication Excellence in Organizations (CEO Excel) Award given by the prestigious International Association of Business Communications (IABC) Philippines for her effective leadership and use of excellent communication in supervising the network’s programming and massively successful campaigns and events.

“Being in ABS-CBN for 28 years has given me the opportunity to serve the Filipino people as we continue to communicate, build relationships, and inspire our audiences all over the world. We share the same value of excellence in communication with IABC as we strive to better the lives of the Filipino,” Vidanes said in her acceptance speech read by head of TV production Laurenti Dyogi at the awards night on Thursday (Sept 4).

As broadcast head, Vidanes sets the direction of the development, production, and distribution of content, merchandise, and live events for Channel 2. One of the most powerful women in Philippine media, Vidanes was instrumental in getting the network through the most crucial times. She is an influential figure in the production division, making an impact through program content and the public service initiatives of the company. She led ABS-CBN through a triumphant celebration of the network’s 60th anniversary and a highly successful “Tulong na, Tabang na, Tayo na” T-shirt drive that benefitted the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.

Vidanes, who was not able to personally accept her award, recently headed to the United States to complete the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Vidanes began working at ABS-CBN in 1986 as an associate producer. She was later promoted to executive producer and eventually headed the TV entertainment division before being appointed as head of broadcast.

The CEO Excel Awards is the annual award-giving event of IABC that recognizes top-level business leaders in the country who masterfully and effectively champion the use of excellent communication as a business strategy.

CHARO SANTOS-CONCIO NAMED ASIAN MEDIA WOMAN OF THE YEAR BY CONTENTASIA

ABS-CBN president and CEO Charo Santos-Concio was honored last September 3, 2014 as the Asian Media Woman of the Year by ContentAsia, a premier information resource that covers the entertainment media industry across Asia-Pacific region.

Santos-Concio, who topped ContentAsia’s annual list of Asia’s Most Influential Women in Media, was chosen by ContentAsia for leading “a powerful multi-platform content agenda that is the strongest insurance we know of amid all the uncertainties of a digital world. And she’s doing it mindful of the powerful legacy of a company that has led in its traditional broadcast space for the past 60 years.”

“This award is special for me because it recognizes my work and passion as a storyteller and a leader of a multimedia company, and I could not be more honored to represent not just ABS-CBN, but the hard-working media women in the Philippines. In so many ways I am blessed to get to do what I do, because to be in the business of telling stories is to be in the business of changing lives, inspiring people and offering hope, and promoting different perspectives. I am so thankful that I am given the opportunity to be of service to the Filipino people. I share this award with my family at ABS-CBN and with all the hardworking women in media,” Santos-Concio said.

She was honored at a gala dinner Wednesday themed “Great stories…& the women who tell them best,” along with the other women industry leaders and decision makers in the region, at Grand Hyatt Singapore.

Santos-Concio also delivered the well-applauded opening keynote presentation at the sixth annual ContentAsia Summit Thursday (September 4) to discuss ABS-CBN’s storytelling strengths and hopes and strategies for content creation.

The summit, which had the theme “Great Stories, Well Told,” was attended by content creators, producers, broadcasters, program buyers, programming heads, and executives, and focused on creativity and innovation in content creation, packaging, production, marketing, and distribution.

ABS-CBN WINS TROPHIES AT SPARK AWARDS 2014

ABS-CBN Corporation was crowned the inaugural Best in Show at Marketing’s Spark Awards for Media Excellence after bagging three Gold, two Silver, and four Bronze awards in categories, including Best Event by a Media Owner and Best Campaign by a Media Owner.

The Spark Awards is the first-of-its kind organized by Marketing Magazine and honors top media owners in the Southeast Asia region, giving them the chance to showcase their value proposition and strength to the industry.

ABS-CBN’s “Tulong Na, Tabang Na, Tayo Na” campaign received two Gold awards in the Best Event by a Media Owner and Best Media Solution – Integrated Media categories, while the “Tayo Na” Solidarity Concert bagged a Gold award in Best Event by a Media Owner category.

Passenger safety app PasaHero and health news program “Pamilya OnGuard,” meanwhile, were named Silver awardees as Best App by a Media Owner and Best Use of Branded Content by a Media Owner, respectively.

Bronze trophies were given to “Pinoy Big Brother All In’s” “Online Bahay ni Kuya” as Best Campaign by a Media Owner, the Grand Kapamilya Weekend as Best Event by a Media Owner, the CLEAR National Aspirants Camp as Best Use of Branded Content by a Media Owner, and Choose Philippines as Best Website by a Media Owner.

Spark Awards received more than 170 entries before they were assessed by media professionals who head some of the most renowned agencies in the region, such as Havas, Mindshare, and ZenithOptimedia and others.

Held at the Westin Hotel Singapore, the gala dinner saw Gold, Silver and Bronze trophies being handed out across 24 categories.

ABS-CBN BAGS GOLD STEVIE AWARD AT INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AWARDS

After winning at the Asia Pacific Stevie Awards, ABS-CBN Corporation won the Gold Stevie Award in the Company of the Year – Media & Entertainment category at the 11th Annual International Business Awards.  The awards night will be held in Paris, France on October 10.

Because of this win, ABS-CBN, carrying the name of the Philippines,  will compete in the People’s Choice Stevie Awards for Favorite Companies in the Media & Entertainment category. It will be competing against the silver and the bronze Stevie winners from the UK and the US in the said category.  The company that will garner the most number of votes will win a People’s Choice Stevie Award.
