“THE VOICE OF THE PHILIPPINES” SEASON 2 PREMIERE SOARS HIGH IN TV RATINGS
Viewers across urban and rural areas in the country tuned in to the return of “The Voice of the Philippines” as they watched the first batch of new hopefuls sing to try to turn the chairs of coaches Apl de Ap, Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, and Lea Salonga.
According to data from Kantar Media, the singing-reality show’s pilot episode last Sunday (October 26) recorded a national TV rating of 28.3%, or nine points higher than its rival program “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” (17.2%).
Posts about the artists and the coaches also flooded on social networking site Twitter, with the official hashtag #TheVoicePHisBack topping the list of the trending topics in the Philippines and worldwide.
So far, each coach has already enlisted one artist on their respective teams. Balladeer Tammy Pavino chose coach Lea, while police officer Jannet Cadayona officially got in the competition when coach Apl turned around for her. But what really brought the house down and had the coaches losing their minds were the performances of the season’s first four-chair turner and rocker Tanya Diaz, who picked coach Bamboo, and another four-chair turner and the ‘reggae tatay of Bacolod’ Kokoi Baldo, who joined Team Sarah.
Also stealing the scene was coach Bamboo look-alike Bryan Babor, who surprised the judges with his singing voice that sounded exactly like his idol’s. Even though he didn’t make it past the blind auditions, Bryan got his wish to have a duet with coach Bamboo.

ABS-CBN WINS FOUR BOOMERANG AWARDS 2014
ABS-CBN Corporation bagged four metals at the recently held 2014 Boomerang Awards, including a Gold Boomerang for its passenger safety mobile app, making it the only TV network to be recognized by the award-giving body.
Organized annually by the Internet Mobile and Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP), the Boomerang Awards aims to recognize the best digital programs and campaigns in the country.
ABS-CBN’s passenger safety app “PasaHero” won the Gold Boomerang in the Programs Category. The app, which safeguards the user (passenger) by broadcasting trip details to social media and sending emergency notifications and location to the user’s trusted circle, also took home a Black Boomerang or a special award from Smart Communications for Best in Mobile.
ABS-CBN’s “Pinoy Big Brother All In Online Bahay ni Kuya,” meanwhile, won a Silver Boomerang in the Effectivity category and a Bronze Boomerang in the Campaigns category.
The PBB Facebook app, a first of its kind in the history of the international Big Brother franchise, successfully expanded the “PBB” experience for fans, who weren’t able to make it to the auditions by making them online housemates. They could interact with Big Brother, as well as with their fellow online housemates, via online tasks and challenges. The top ten online housemates were also given the chance to watch the “PBB All In Big Night” live at the Araneta Coliseum, while the grand winner won a cash prize of P100,000.
This is the first time ABS-CBN joined the prestigious Boomerang Awards by the IMMAP.
