The Bottomline wins Best Talk Show while Star Confessions wins Best Theme Song in 16th Asian TV Awards


Two entries from the Philippines were honored during the 16th Asian TV Awards held last  December 8, in Singapore.

ABS-CBN's The Bottomline with Boy Abunda bagged the trophy for Best Talk Show while TV5's Star Confessions won in the Best Theme Song category.

TV host Boy Abunda personally accepted his trophy from the award-giving body that aims to "recognize excellence in programming, production and performance" in Asian television.

TV5's Star Confessions (now Real Confessions) won Best Theme Song in the Asian TV Awards. The song "Ito Ang Buhay Ko" was composed by Boy Christopher Ramos.

Boy Abunda's show was able to beat six other entries in the Best Talk Show category. CNN International's Talk Asia-Tom Ford was "highly commended" by the jurors of the ATA for the same category.

The late-night program hosted by Boy Abunda has been airing on the Kapamilya Network since November 28, 2009.

In the Best Theme Song category, the Malaysian entry Hambamu: Theme Song forImam Muda Season 2 was also "highly commended" by the panel of judges.

There were five other Philippine entries that competed in the 16th Asian TV Awards. They are: GMA-7's Mind Master and TV5's Talentadong Pinoy for the Best General Entertainment category; TV5's Lokomoko for the Best Comedy Programm category;  Angel Aquino of Magkaribal for the Best Supporting Actress category; and Michael V of Pepito Manaloto for the Best Comedy Performance by an Actor / Actress category.
